The Scottish Government has produced a draft of updated Guidance on Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) Education in Scottish Schools.
The Bishops’ Conference of Scotland has issued a statement expressing disappointment and confusion with the proposals. Here are the two main reason for this:
1. The Government has decided to delete all reference to Catholic schools
2. The guidance no longer reflects the legal protection for schools with a religious character
The Bishops have requested, strongly, the re-insertion of the paragraphs relating to Denominational Education from the (2014) version of the guidance and the previously supportive position of Scottish Government for Catholic schools.
They are urging you to respond to the consultation simply to request that the Catholic schools provision be reinserted into the guidance.
