The RCAG YOUTH office are currently recruiting for a TEMPORARY - YOUTH OFFICER (£33683.00 p.a. Maternity cover from July 2024 for a period up to 1 year or until the return of the post-holder)
We require a flexible, organised, and efficient individual, with excellent communication skills and previous relevant work experience in the field of youth work (paid and/or voluntary), to join the Archdiocesan Youth Office team.
As part of that team, and in collaboration with the Director of the Archdiocesan Youth Office, the post-holder will assist Catholic parishes to meet the spiritual and pastoral needs of young people within the Archdiocese of Glasgow.
They will facilitate parish-based youth ministry, develop and provide training, talks, prayer experiences, support and resource materials, in line with the vision of the Youth Office, firmly rooted in that of the Archdiocese and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
The successful candidate would have some of the following competencies: confidence in public speaking, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the skills to promote the Youth Office’s social media presence. They will also be subject to PVG checks.
The post requires a degree of flexibility with regards to hours worked (including evenings/weekends and on occasion overnights) and the post-holder must also be willing to undertake, on an occasional and ad-hoc basis, both national and international travel.
35 hours per week. Group personal pension scheme. Annual leave 20 – 25 days per annum, plus recognised public holidays and days of obligation.

General
To assist Catholic parishes to meet the spiritual and pastoral needs of young people within the Archdiocese of Glasgow by facilitating parish-based youth ministry and developing and providing training, talks, prayer experiences, support and resource materials, in line with the vision of the Youth Office, firmly rooted in that of the Archdiocese and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Duties
- Office:
- Be responsible for submitting to the Youth Office Coordinator any items for inclusion in parish mail out.
- Team:
- To attend and give input at fortnightly Staff Meetings.
- Parish:
- To support the development of parish based youth ministry so as to create vibrant parish life across the Archdiocese, including deep work on a parish-to-parish basis and training sessions at an Archdiocesan level.
- To support parish adult leaders.
- Diocese:
- To organise, lead and facilitate diocesan youth events.
- To attend the monthly formation programme for young adults and give input when required.
- To attend RCAG Youth Network Meetings.
- National:
- To attend SCY (Scottish Catholic Youth) events.
- International:
- To attend World Youth Day and similar events with the Diocesan Group and lead as required.
- Social Media:
- To update RCAG Youth’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook & Twitter) in preparation for events and with encouraging posts so as to promote attractive, inspiring Catholicism.
- Other:
- To write articles for Archdiocesan publications when necessary.
- To undertake ad hoc initiatives and duties consistent with job title, as delegated and/or proposed by the Director of the Archdiocesan Youth Office.
