The award winning journalist, broadcaster and writer Fatima Manji will give this year’s Molendinar Lecture on Friday June 14 at Glasgow City Chambers on the theme of Glasgow’s built heritage and the forgotten histories of its builders.

The lecture – which will be introduced by Archbishop Nolan - is the highlight of the St Mungo Festival’s summer season. The first ever Molendinar Lecture was given by Archbishop Conti in 2012.

Fatima’s journalism has included breaking major national and international stories including the tale of the Saudi princesses held hostage for years by their father the king, investigating an Mi5 spy accused of entrapment in northern Ireland and giving voice to the heart rending testimonies of victims of war in Iraq. She spent more than a decade reporting for and presenting Channel 4 News.

Her book Hidden Heritage explores the secret stories of art and architecture across Britain, unravelling the country’s long relationship with the ‘Orient’. It has been critically acclaimed for its fresh perspective on a nation struggling with identity and the legacy of empire.
