As an end to the war in Gaza seems finally possible, Catholics across the globe are asked to unite with the Pope to pray the Rosary for peace this weekend.
Pope Leo XIV has asked people in Rome to gather in St. Peter’s Square on Saturday evening at 6pm (5pm UK time) and others round the world to join in, either by praying alone, or in the family or by linking up to the Rome ceremony via internet at www.youtube.com/@VaticanNews
“I invite everyone, each day of the coming month, to pray the Rosary for peace—personally, in the family, and in community,” he said.
The Rosary for Peace will be held in the context of the Jubilee of Marian Spirituality, which takes place on October 11-12.
That day also marks the 63rd anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, which Pope St. John XXIII opened on October 11, 1962.
The original image of Our Lady of Fatima will be in St. Peter's Square for the Rosary event.
